Q. What is the most effective way to search the Library Catalog to identify films from the Films on Demand Collection?
The most efficient way to search the nearly 6,171 films in our Films on Demand collection by a specific subject.
- Simply type in the keyword or a phrase (a phrase should be enclosed in quotation marks for greater specificity) and combine this with the code VYIR. For example, films on pollution should be searched as pollultion and VYIR.
- Sort titles by date, if you choose. Simply move to the box on the far right of the page, where it says "sort by." There are several options available, with two of the most useful being "Publication Date Descending" or Title.
Alternatively, you might want to search all films in the collection, although this is quite a large number.
- To do this, simply type in VYIR in the search box. Then you can sort by title or date if you choose.
Remember, that when you sort by title in a library catalog, all of the titles that begin with a number display first, even if the number is written out. Therefore, you may have to scroll through 7 or 8 screens before you see the tiltes that begin with the letter "A." There are some truly wonderful films in this collection that you should explore, both for your classes and personal enjoyment!
