Q. What kinds of music are available in the library?
You can discover the Library's music collection in two ways: through the Quicksearch catalog and through our streaming music databases (we have two of them)!
Catalog: From the Library homepage, take the following steps:
- Click on the box next to QuickSearch, and move immediately to the Advanced Seach Option, which is underneath the box and to the right.
- Type in what you are looking for (i.e: the title of the recording, using the drop-down menu for Title.
- If you are searching for a genre of music, change the option to Keyword and type in terms like baroque, renaissance music, jazz, folk songs, etc. in the search box.
- Look halfway down the page for format and use the Drop-down menu to select Musical Record, which is short for musical recording. This search will bring up CDs that are in the Library's collection with that title, or show multiple titles that are representative of that genre.
Databases: Our music streaming databases are called DRAM and Naxos Music Library. You can access them by clicking on these links. Or from the Library homepage click on Databases, then Alphabetical, and then the name of the database. These databases allow you to listen to music online.
Enjoy your listening!
