What is an embargo on a journal or magazine?
Answer
An embargo refers to a situation where the publisher of the publication restricts access to the full-text of articles in the most recent issues. Generally, embargoes are in effect for 6-9 months, but some are longer. Embargoes are usually imposed to protect the publisher's print subscription base. While you will be able to see the items published and to read a brief abstract of the content, the full-text will not be available. In cases where the full-text is restricted by an embargo, you can utilize our Interlibrary Loan System available from the Library Home Page.
