How do I cite a book chapter in MLA format?

First and foremost: If one author wrote the entire book, you do not need a separate entry for the chapter. Common mistake! Just use page number for in-text citation.

 

If each chapter has a different author, use this format for your reference page: Bowers, Martha. A. “Chapter Name.” Book Title. Ed. Book Editor. City: Publisher, 2006. 289-298. Print.

 

...And this format for your In-text citation: (Bowers 292).
